Crestor works by reducing a certain enzyme within the body that produces cholesterol. It belongs to a class of medications called statins.
Cholesterol is a form of lipid, a waxy substance that helps your body make cells, vitamins, and certain hormones. It is not inherently bad. Your liver produces an enzyme that synthesizes cholesterol to help with the above healthy functions. Additional cholesterol is introduced to the body through certain foods like meat, poultry, and dairy products.
There are two types of cholesterol: high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) and low-density lipoproteins (LDLs). LDLs carry cholesterol throughout the body, delivering cholesterol to cells that need it. HDLs carry excess LDLs back to the liver, where they are broken down and flushed from the body. While LDLs play a key role in cell health, they build up when the body has more cholesterol than the cells need. This buildup turns into plaque in the arteries (blood vessels). As plaque covers the artery walls, the blood vessels become narrow. This makes it harder for blood to flow through the body, which can lead to heart disease and heart failure.
Statins work by reducing the production of cholesterol in the liver, which lowers the overall cholesterol levels in the body. Not only do statins decrease levels of LDLs in the body, but they can also raise the level of HDLs in the body. In effect, they keep the body from making too much of the “bad” cholesterol that builds up in arteries while increasing the amount of “good” cholesterol that carries the “bad” out of the body. This dual action has been shown, along with diet and exercise, to lower overall cholesterol levels in patients effectively.

The cholesterol-lowering drug Crestor (rosuvastatin) has been shown to improve the symptoms of heart failure, and to reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. It’s now also taken for the prevention of type 2 diabetes in people with high cholesterol. A clinical trial has found Crestor may help improve the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in people with high cholesterol. It’s available under the brand name Crestor.
A trial in 2021 found that people taking a daily dose of 10mg Crestor in the morning and 10mg in the evening for three months were less likely to develop Type 2 diabetes compared to people on a lower dose of Crestor, the company said in a.
The company says the study is ongoing and it will continue to monitor patients for the benefits of Crestor as the medication goes on the market.
It’s not clear how much Crestor works, and the study is being conducted by the company itself. In the study, participants who took a daily dose of 10mg or 20mg of Crestor in the morning and 10mg or 20mg of Crestor in the evening took part in a study that compared the effects of the two drugs to see which one worked best.
The study was led by Dr. Michael Lea of the University of Toronto’s Langone Health in Canada.
“Our findings show that taking the 10mg or 20mg dose of Crestor in the morning and 10mg or 20mg dose in the evening improved blood sugar control in people with high cholesterol. These results are important because it shows that taking the cholesterol-lowering drug Crestor can help people to control their cholesterol levels,” Dr. Lea said in a news release.
The researchers said that the findings also may help prevent further damage from atherosclerosis, a common type of cardiovascular disease.
“We know that atherosclerosis can lead to an increase in cholesterol, which in turn can cause the risk of heart disease,” Dr. Lea said in the release.
It’s important to note that people with high cholesterol can experience elevated levels of LDL cholesterol, a substance that carries a risk of cardiovascular disease. This may make it harder to control cholesterol levels in people with high cholesterol, Dr. Lea said.
“This is the first study to show that taking a dose of Crestor 10mg or 20mg in the morning and 10mg or 20mg in the evening can improve blood pressure in people with high cholesterol,” he added.
Dr. David L. Doyen of the University of Toronto’s Langone Health in Canada says the results are in line with the findings in the study.
“We are now in a position to have a better understanding of the link between cholesterol and cardiovascular disease, which can help reduce the risk of heart disease,” he said in the news release.
Doyen also noted that there is also a new type of medication called statins, which are used to treat people with high cholesterol and can lower the cholesterol that is in the blood and lower the risk of heart disease. They help by lowering the cholesterol that is in the blood and lowering the cholesterol that is in the blood. These include the cholesterol that is being removed from the blood, the cholesterol that is being added to the diet, and so on.
“We are going to see more people using these medications to reduce their cholesterol levels,” he said.
L. D. Doyen said there is a possibility that people taking statins for heart disease may have other medications that could help reduce cholesterol levels, including those that lower the levels of LDL cholesterol.
“We are just now starting to see the results of the new medications that have been developed to reduce cholesterol levels. These are statins, so we are also going to see new drugs that are being developed to help people reduce cholesterol levels. These will be the new medications that are being developed,” he added.
